Ida Bagus Made Nadera (1910 – 1998, Indonesian), Tari Jangger, black ink on paper, 55 x 38 cm (22 2/3 x 19 in.), signed on lower right.
Ida Bagus Nadera was a topeng and arja dancer, and avid reader of Kawi scripts. He was awarded the Wija Kusuma Award from the Gianyar Administration and in the 1980s, the Dharma Kusuma Art award from Balinese Government.
His paintings can be found in the galleries of the Neka Museum, the ARMA Museum (Ubud) and Taman Budaya (Denpasar), as well as the Presidential Palace. Among Ida Bagus Nadera’s most famous works include “The Reconstruction”, which he offered to President Soekarno in 1949 for the state residence. His work and life have been retold in a book “Ida Bagus Made Nadera, A Balinese Painter of Pita Maha”, by Agus Dermawan T, in 2008.
